The anticipation surrounding the first leg of Dexta Daps' trilogy tour in Kingston on Friday night had people on the edge before and after the show.

They were eager not to miss the chance to witness the dancehall sensation live, and numerous enthusiasts made sure to be spectacularly dressed and ready for an encounter with the artiste. Shania Henry, a resident of Westmoreland, overcame transportation challenges to attend the Kingston leg of the tour. Despite difficulties securing a ride, she emphasised her determination to be there.

"Kingston is a place where people ago come out and have fun. The excitement fi the first day did too nice so mi did have my mind set fi reach," she said. About 12:50 a.m. Saturday, the crowd eagerly awaited the arrival of the man of the night, chanting "We want Dexta!" initiated by Najhda Barrows, a diehard Dexta Daps fan who was pointed out by selectro Boom Boom for her actions.

Maciann from Old Harbour, voiced her frustration in not seeing the star man, having been at the venue for hours.

"I have been here from 8 p.m. We are good so far but I think it's time we see Dexta. Three selectors have come on and played the same music. It's Dexta and friends concert. I come to see Dexta and only Dexta."

Despite such sentiments, some patrons were delighted by the performance of the sole female artiste that the headliner invited on stage during his performance.

Davahu Barrett, known by her stage name Davianah, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be the only female artiste brought out that night.

"I appreciate it and I am grateful. Mi see seh the girl dem love me and knowing I can entertain the ladies is a great feeling."

With more than six years of professional experience in the music industry, Davianah said she is used to performing.

"I have been performing all over. I have been performing at Rebel Salute since 2011 professionally so I have been doing little things here and there and see me here now," she said.

"I have been performing all over for so many years so I am used to performing, I was really comfortable going up there and doing what I know how to do. I just needed the platform to do what I knew I already could do," she continued.

Although the St Hugh's High School alumna wasn't doing music while she was in high school, her talent flows through her bloodline.

"I just knew I could sing, I always sing because I grew in it. After high school it was work time and I didn't see any other career path so I went into the studio," Davianah said.

The Kingston native says she is looking forward to possible collaborations with Dexta Daps as a treat to the ladies.
