All systems go for Portmore Music Festival
The two-day Portmore Music Festival, the Sunshine City's annual charity stage show, is set to kick off on Friday at the UDC Car Park in Portmore. Night one will feature a galaxy of sound systems, playing tune for tune, in their bid to keep patrons entertained.
Among the sounds and selectors are Yumi Hi-Power, Kosmik, Sky Juice, Swatch International and Sound Trooper.
Steve Billings, chairman of SunCity 104.9 FM, promoters of the event, explained that they decided to add an additional night on order to showcase the Jamaican culture in its entirety.
According to Billings, the sound system culture is a vibrant one, and as such, recognition should be given to the sounds, which continue to promote Jamaican music globally.
Night two, which takes place on Saturday at the same venue, will feature a number of Portmore-based up-and-coming acts, as well as established acts.
Some of the performers are Beenie Man, Baby Cham, Junior Reid, Spragga Benz, Capleton, Chuck Fenda, Half Pint, Tommy Lee Sparta, Warrior King, Gyptian, new sensation Stylo G and Munga Honourable, as well as young gunners like Maestro Don, Darrio, Sikka Rymes and Prestige. Also on the line-up are Hezron, Jahman, Jahbar I and Orisha Sound.
