‘An incredible feeling’ Foster delighted at winning FISU 100m title, breaking meet record

Jamaica’s Rasheed Foster captured the men’s 100 metres title in championship record fashion yesterday, clocking 10.14 seconds to win the blue riband event at the fourth International University Americas Games (FISU) in Lima, Peru.

Foster exploded from the blocks and led from start to finish, securing an emphatic victory ahead of Chile’s Benjamin Aravena and Juan Pablo Nordetti, who both clocked 10.37 seconds to take the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

Jamaica’s Deandre Daley finished fourth in 10.38 seconds.

A delighted Foster said he was grateful for the victory and thanked everyone who played a role in his success.

“Winning the FISU Americas Championship and breaking the meet record is an incredible feeling. It is a moment that reminds me that hard work, faith, determination and perseverance truly pay off. I am deeply grateful to have achieved this milestone, and I give God all the glory for making it possible,” he said.
