The Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission (JADCO) Roadshow recently brought excitement, education, and support to communities in May Pen, Clarendon, and Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth as part of its public education initiative.

Held under the theme 'Protect the Spirit of Sports', the roadshow featured a vibrant mix of public engagement, educational outreach, and back to school giveaways, which left scores of participants informed and inspired.

Recognising the start of the new school term, attendees received school bags, lunch bags, notebooks, pencil cases, and water bottles, easing the burden on parents while helping children prepare for the academic year ahead. Attendees at the events held on Thursday, August 28, also received brochures highlighting JADCO's role in promoting clean sport across Jamaica.

"We are committed to creating awareness and encouraging a culture of integrity in sports," said Mrs. June Spence Jarrett, Executive Director of JADCO.

"This roadshow is one way we can connect directly with communities, especially young people, and share the message that success in sports, and in life, must be built on fairness, discipline, and education."

The event included fun-filled games and giveaways hosted by the Vibes Master Jerry D, who kept the crowd energised throughout the day.

One parent in Clarendon expressed gratitude for the initiative: "It's so refreshing to see an organisation like JADCO giving back in such a meaningful way. The school supplies are a blessing, but the real value is in what the children are learning about doing things the right way."

In Santa Cruz, a young, aspiring athlete shared his experience.

"I didn't know much about JADCO before today, but now I understand why it's important to stay clean and train hard. This event showed me that discipline really matters."

The JADCO roadshow not only provided valuable resources to families, but also strengthened the Commission's outreach goals, focusing on youth empowerment, community education, and anti-doping advocacy.

"As we continue to engage the public, especially in rural areas, we want every Jamaican to understand that anti-doping isn't just about elite athletes, it's about protecting the health and integrity of everyone involved in sport," Spence Jarrett shared.

The roadshow continues to be a key part of JADCO's public education strategy, reinforcing the importance of clean sport, youth development, and community collaboration.

In October, JADCO will again take to the streets with its Junior Athletes Workshops. Secondary schools from the parishes of Kingston, St Andrew, St Catherine and St Thomas will attend the Region One workshop to be held at the Jamaica Conference Centre.

The Region Two workshop will be held at Tropics View Hotel in Manchester, and will host secondary school students from Clarendon, Manchester and St Elizabeth.

Schools in Westmoreland, Hanover, St James and sections of Trelawny will attend the Region 3 workshop at the SeaGarden Beach Resort in Montego Bay.

The Region 4 workshop for schools in sections of Trelawny, St Ann, St Mary and Portland will be held at Cardiff Hotel and Spa.
