Police, hospital on high alert after security threat
Tension gripped sections of Spanish Town, St Catherine, late Monday night after police and hospital officials were rocked by separate security threats within minutes of each other.
Police personnel assigned to the Spanish Town Police Station were thrown into high alert about 11:49 p.m. on June 1, 2026, after reports surfaced that a bomb had allegedly been planted on the station compound.
The threat triggered an emergency response, with law enforcement activating established security protocols and mobilising relevant agencies to sweep the area.
After extensive checks, nothing suspicious was reportedly found on the compound.
However, while officers were still responding to that scare, another bomb threat was reportedly made targeting the nearby Spanish Town Hospital, sending fresh panic through the area.
Authorities responded to both incidents as investigations were immediately launched.
The latest threats come amid growing concern over a string of bomb scares reported across St Catherine in recent times.
Police say investigations into the incidents are ongoing.
