Sunday’s Reggae 6 a knotty affair
SUNDAY's Reggae 6 opener is a potential minefield at six furlongs, five-year-olds, non-winners of three races, who turn tables on each other every so often, making them an unpredictable bunch, especially at six furlongs.
Use multiple selections in the opener, obvious speed horses, to guarantee a winning start before whittling towards bankers in the third and fourth races.
TITAN TEMPO might appear a tempting prospect in the third. However, the American appears to be losing form whereas local-breds, I REALISE and BURNING VALOR, have been rounding into shape. BURNING VALOR was a strong winner on last and could possibly repeat if not hounded too much on the lead by I REALISE.
SENSATIONAL GIFT emerged from the woodwork with a second-place run on last, which should be good enough to put away four-year-old maidens at six and a half furlongs in the third.
WILSON is dominant on a $500,000 claim tag, making him tough to beat in the fourth at six and a half furlongs. Unless facing back-to-form or out-of-class runners such as TIGRAY EXPRESS, who beat him by five lengths at seven furlongs last out, WILSON should have the fourth in the bag.
Similar to the first event, the fifth should be handled with care. No fewer than five of the five-year-olds, non-winners of four races, should be used with the emphasis on speed.
Close the Reggae 6 strong at nine furlongs and 25 yards with three selections among 12 maiden runners, three-year-olds, any of whom could be a springer in waiting.
