Reggae Girlz head coach Hubert Busby Jr does not expect star striker Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw to be ready for the team's friendly internationals against the United States on March 3 and England on March 29.

Shaw has missed over a month of football after suffering a muscle injury in the English League Cup final against Chelsea on March 15, and with the player still looking to make her return for her club, Busby said Shaw turning out for her country in these two friendlies is very unlikely.

"Bunny needs to get back playing with her club first, and get healthy. Right now she is out with her club and it is important she gets back playing for Man City first," he said.

He noted that it would be a big risk for the club, who will be very tentative to release their prized asset just recovering from a serious injury.

"That is where she needs to be, back and healthy and playing for her club. And then we can evaluate things from there," Busby assessed. "But it is not up to us. Based on how the rules work no club is going to release a player to play for a country if they are not playing for the club."

CHANGES

Meanwhile, Busby said there could be changes to the squad as they continue to evaluate and try to improve in preparation for the start of World Cup qualifiers later this year.

"There are always going to be changes and things that we cannot account for, and that is why it is important to have as many players in this pool to evaluate and look at, because when you do, you are factoring in injures, availability and loss of form," he shared.

"Those are all things you have to factor in come October. So it is really important that we take this time to really evaluate the pool," he said.
