W’house hungry for success in Concacaf League
Waterhouse captain, Keithy Simspon, says his team is hungry for success and eager to match skills against Costa Rican outfit HS Herediano in the first leg of their Concacaf League round-of-16 match on August 22 at the National Stadium.
Simpson says Waterhouse players and coaching staff aspire to take the Drewsland-based club to the same professional level as the Costa Ricans and they want to make a statement against their more respected opponent.
"We have been preparing very well. We have been working really hard and coach don't allow us to slack off. He has given us proper detailed instructions of what he wants. We just have to play close attention and carry out the task at hand," he said.
"We have no pressure on our backs. They (Herediano) are the ones under pressure. I have played against them before and they are a fully professional team, a top club in Costa Rica. But we are hungry for success and we want to be where they are, so we will apply ourselves to the best of our abilities and if it's God's will we will come out on top."
Big plus
He continued: "It is an extremely overwhelming feeling just to reach this far (in Concacaf League), and to think of going all the way to the Champions League itself is a big plus, especially for young players. We have had discussion about these things and we want to be there. We try our best to keep the younger players in tact and they must even want it even more than us, but we are looking forward to an exciting encounter."
He added that it will be very difficult to achieve a winning result without the support of the fans and he is calling on local football supporters to come out and support the team and the game.
"We are asking the fans to come out and support and help us in this quest because without them (fans) it's not possible. Come and cheer us on to victory, because at home you have a big plus going forward. The coach already told us what we want, we have a few weeks and days to go so we are focusing on the preparation as it gets closer to the game and we will be playing for the best result possible," he said.
