Police probing shooting and failed robbery along Oxford Road

The police are probing a daring early-morning shooting and robbery attempt this morning along Oxford Road in New Kingston.

Reports are that loud explosions rang out about 8:50 a.m., with men seen running away from the scene.

An eyewitness said one of the suspects made good his escape at a nearby apartment building.

When The Star arrived, two vehicles a Toyota Hiace bus, believed to be the target, and another minivan were seen disabled in the roadway. Motorists can expect delays along the usually busy corridor.

A security guard who works nearby said, "People afi vigilant this time of year... a pure robbery and dem thing deh gwan."

The police investigation is ongoing.
