Allege child killer escapes
Troy Ellis, the St Ann man who was charged for the rape and murder of a nine-year-old girl in the Discovery Bay section of the parish, escaped from the St Ann's Bay Regional Hospital on Saturday night.
Ellis, of Fort Land, Discovery Bay, was hospitalised after he reportedly attempted suicide after allegedly sexually assaulting Talia Thompson before stabbing her to death.
The two members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force who were on guard at the time of the escape have been removed from frontline duties.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force said the circumstances of Ellis' escape are now the subject of a major investigation by the Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau. Ellis was seen making his escape at approximately 10:35 p.m. on Saturday, September 30. The police said he has several serious wounds inflicted to the face and sections of his upper body.
