Mi love Lisa! - Mother happy after son is photographed with Hanna
For Sheena Butler, St Ann South Eastern Member of Parliament Lisa Hanna has always been an inspiration.
The Ewarton, St Catherine, resident, who was among hundreds of People's National Party supporters who turned up for the party's 84th Annual Conference at the National Arena on Sunday, experienced a priceless moment after Hanna took photographs with her five-year-old son, John.
Though surrounded by a crowd, Hanna stopped to embrace and interact with the child for a few minutes.
After taking a few pictures, Butler stood in quiet elation. She told THE STAR that her love for Hanna has been steadfast since the MP attempted to assist in getting her son's cleft lip fixed in 2019.
A cleft lip happens if the tissue that makes up the lip does not join completely before birth. This results in an opening in the upper lip. The opening in the lip can be a small slit or a large opening that goes through the lip into the nose.
"Lisa did try to help me to get his mouth fix," she said catching her breath. "That was 2019. But it still nuh fix but mi know she a try."
Butler has been unable to afford the medical procedures necessary to correct the cleft lip and though her son's condition remains unchanged, still loves the former Miss World.
"Mi always come conference. From it a keep me deh deh. So me couldn't see ar a pass and nuh say hello. Mi love Lisa, mi love ar."
Hanna, who has been an MP since 2007, recently announced she would not be offering herself as a candidate for the next general elections.
