Elderly woman shot dead in east Kingston

The Kingston Eastern police have launched an investigation into a shooting incident on Sunday on Homestead Road, Kingston, that left an elderly woman dead.

Information reaching our news team is that residents heard loud explosions and summoned the police.

THE STAR understands that upon arrival of the police, 75-year-old Ruthlyn Prendergast, a retiree of Homestead Road, Kingston 2, was found dead.

Reports from the Elletson Road police are that at about 3:20 a.m., residents heard explosions, and during a check of the premises, Prendergast was seen lying in her bed with gunshot wounds.

Further checks revealed that another woman was also injured.

Both women were taken to hospital where Prendergast was pronounced dead, while the other woman was admitted in stable condition.
