Firearm, ammunition seized in MoBay

The Montego Bay police arrested and charged one man following the seizure of a firearm and several rounds of ammunition at the intersection of Harbour and Barnett streets in Montego Bay, St James, on Monday.

Charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition is 24-year-old Richard Simpson, otherwise called, 'Joe Grine' and 'Kinteet', of 2 East Greater Portmore, St Catherine.

Officers from the division were on patrol about 8:35p.m. when Simpson aroused their suspicion. He was accosted, searched and a 9mm Intratec Tec-9 semiautomatic pistol along with a magazine containing 16 rounds of ammunition were seized. He was subsequently arrested.

A court date will be announced at a later date.
