A week after being discharged from hospital, dancehall artiste Pamputtae is encouraging others to put serious focus on their health and well-being, emphasising that "the outcome can only be good".

The entertainer, who has openly spoken about her diabetes diagnosis, pointed out the importance of self-care.

"Take your health and diabetes seriously because a nuh sumpn normal and a nuh sumpn weh yuh fi play with. Exercise should be a part of your lifestyle and sometimes people will see mi lose weight and a ask mi weh mi a go gym fah, but working out don't have to do with you being fat or slim, it has to do with being healthy. You have to keep your blood pumping right," Pamputtae told THE STAR. Pamputtae previously told THE STAR that she was diagnosed with diabetes after the birth of her second son.

Diabetes, which is a significant public health challenge in Jamaica, affects approximately 12-12.5 per cent of the adult population. As the third leading cause of death, it is driven by high rates of obesity, poor diet, and low physical activity, particularly among those aged 75 and older.

Pamputtae said she is back in the recording studio and is grateful following a recent health challenge.

"I feel really blessed and I am just here giving God thanks. December leading on to January has been rough for me healthwise. I was hospitalised for a couple days and diabetes was one of the causes as well." She did not elaborate further.

She paused in the midst of her dialogue and took time to pay tribute to two members of the entertainment fraternity who recently passed away, veteran musicians Lowell 'Sly' Dunbar and Stephen 'Cat' Coore. Pamputtae said their impact on the industry will remain unforgettable while offering condolences to their loved ones.

"Their physical presence will be missed but their music will forever live. They were musical greats and I just want to offer my condolences to their families and other loved ones," she said, responding in the negative when asked if she had ever worked with any of them.

In the meantime, Pamputtae said she is promoting her latest song Love Mi Good, a collaboration with Tanya Stephens.

"It's done on a one drop riddim. (Producer) Esco send mi the riddim and say him think mi and Tanya would be perfect for it. When mi and Tanya go in the studio go voice, it was a really great energy and vibe. It was released earlier this month and so far it is doing well," Pamputtae said.

"I never stopped working and other than the song with Tanya, I am promoting another [one] named Work That Money for some producers in Canada. At this point I am just letting Fada God lead the way for me because sometimes we a plan, but God say a nuh dat Him a give, but something bigger and better while yuh a kill up yourself for something else. Mi just a pray and God do the rest," she stated.
