Thurteen13 sings about livity on ‘Where I’m From’
Dancehall artiste Thurteen13 is promoting his latest single, Where I'm From, which was released on the 'Red Rum' rhythm project for Sha-Tess Records.
The visuals were released three weeks ago.
"The song talks about the livity in Jamaica - ' From the outskirts the place look really nice. But the people cold as dripping ice, welcome to the darker side of paradise." The people dem love the style, it connect," he said.
Thurteen13, given name Orville Burke, grew up in May Pen, Clarendon, with a Christian mother and a Rastafarian father. He attended Glenmuir High School and his early musical influences were Bounty Killer, Vybz Kartel, Sizzla and Capleton. He migrated to the US in 2006 and recorded his first single, Be the One, in 2008 on the 'Contagious' rhythm, produced by Dr Paul.
Reacting to thoughts about his unusual moniker, Thurteen13 said that he doesn't believe in labels.
"I've run into the number at significant times in my life, with my ex, landmark events, flight numbers. I believe in astrology, and the number 13 represents power, renewal, and energy," he said.
