Shenseea not putting all her eggs in one basket - ‘Trending Gyal’ singer launches lashes line
Pointing out the value in having multiple ways to earn a living, dancehall artiste Shenseea said that motivated her to evolving into a full-time businesswoman and entrepreneur.
The Trending Gyal singer recently delved into the beauty and cosmetics world when she officially launched her lashes line.
The line includes eyelashes bearing names of some of her biggest hits, including Lighter, Wasabi and Good Comfort. Shenseea told THE STAR that her grandmother always told her not to put all her eggs in one basket, a lesson the artiste said she has always carried with her.
"Having a different kind of income is like having a Plan B, and we all need a Plan B just in case. It's always good to have something to fall back on because nothing in life is definitely guaranteed. Life is very unpredictable so why not expand?" she said. Shenseea said she's entering a new phase of her career.
"This was my first time setting up like a website to sell and do international shipping and it has definitely taught me a lot about business. I am definitely excited about the growth because before I was just doing phone cases and hand deliveries. Now I can get my products across the island and across the seas. Anywhere you are in the world, these products are available to you," she shared.
In love with lashes
Shenseea said she was encouraged to start the lashes business because of constant requests from her fans.
"I've actually been working on them (the lashes) for five months now. I've been seeing comments or DMs (direct messages) asking 'where you got those lashes from?' and so my team and I decided we should make our own, especially seeing that I'm in love with lashes. Plus, we wanted to give my ShenYengz (the name of her fans) something for the holidays at an expense they can afford," she said.
"They never cease to amaze me when it comes on to the support, trust me. The response has actually been amazing. I haven't seen any negative backlash, a just pure 'hot lash' we a deal wid," she laughed. "They have no faults with the lashes, we've shipped so many already! I'm just excited about it all!"
Now that the Blessed singer has officially expanded her horizons and entered the world of retailing, she revealed that the lash line is only the beginning.
"I am definitely thinking about launching other products and I won't just be sticking to beauty and cosmetics. I like to cater to a wide audience. I am definitely going to do something for the men, something for everybody," she said.
