Rre eyes prime time spot at Reggae Sumfest
Following a decent showing at this year's Reggae Sumfest, recording artiste Rre says she is looking forward to growing with the festival.
Having made her debut a few years ago as part of Devin Di Dakkta's set, the entertainer earned her first solo slot this year. Pointing out that she is making progress with every staging of the festival, Rre says she believes a prime time spot on the show in the near future is not unattainable.
"My first act for myself, can you believe it? I'm very grateful because things can only continue to get better. This stage is an awesome platform for young artistes as well as veterans to showcase their talent, and I'm very grateful that I was able to do that this year. Hopefully next year I'll have a longer set, which will be 15 minutes, and then I will bring all I need to bring. I'll still have all my dancers and even more things in store, theatrics, anything that will make it bigger and better," she said.
COMPLETE PERFORMANCE
"I am hoping that very soon I can also get a rider that I can demand certain things. We're just going to keep it moving until we get to the place we want to be. Almost every artiste now performing in prime time slots started out with baby steps. I'm going to keep putting in the work until I get there."
Pointing out that she prides herself on giving her fans a complete performance, Rre said she took time to put her set together and was happy it was well received.
"My performance was awesome. Artistes will always have something to say about their performance - what they did do, what they didn't do. But to be honest, I am very grateful for the execution. It's all about preparation. It took us two and half weeks to get this performance perfect. It should have been longer, to be honest, but we are all professionals, and we delivered an awesome all-round performance. I made sure to include my old songs, new songs I'm about to drop, as well as include dance breaks. All of my dancers were on point, and I think I did an awesome job," she said.
"It was only when I finished performing that I started to look at the crowd's reactions, but it was very welcoming to see them having fun. I was humbled that I got the opportunity. My six little minutes was well received, and we just keep it moving."
The entertainer also revealed that she has a host of new material to drop in the coming months - first of which will be Pat It Up, a track she previewed during her Sumfest set.
